Last week I was graciously invited to try out one of the delicious restaurants that were to be featured in the LeCHOP culinary festival. The event company that hosts the annual festival LeCHOP, Ville-Marie Collection, teamed up with the charity Share The Warmth to help fight the battle against food insecurity by giving a portion of each plate sold to the charity. For every LeCHOP meal sold $2.50, the estimated profits from each meal, will be donated to benefit the School Food Programs administered by Share the Warmth. Delicious food and a wonderful cause!
The three participating restaurants were Weinstein and Gavin, Decca 77 and L’Atelier de L’Argentine. I went with W&G and I was NOT disappointed! I’m such a fan of the decor of the restaurant and the food was mouthwatering. The food was fresh and the staff was so nice! I can certainly say that my friend and I enjoyed our meal there and knowing that the festival has teams ed up with such a worthy cause was even more of reason to enjoy the night!
To say I am a picky eater would be quite the understatement. My boyfriend rarely suggests trying new places for dinner unless he has already checked the menu and knows there is a chicken option. I could eat at the kids table every time and I wouldn’t even be upset about it. I’m picky as hell. However, dining at Parma Cafe I can confidently say I ate everything they brought out for me and cleared my plate.
I’ve been to Parma Cafe several times before (their lattes are seriously amazing) but I was invited this time to try out their new menu. I dragged the boyfriend along with me, he even sat there patiently as I took 100 photos of every dish before we could start eating.
I have to believe that the sun came out in full force last Thursday just for the partygoers at Terrasses Bonsecours. It was the hottest day we have had yet, it was the sunniest day that we have had yet and it was was the perfect way to kick off terrace season.
Drinks were flowing, appetizers were being served and the sun was shining down HARD. Upon arrival I asked if I could be seated somewhere more in the shade and the look the hostesses gave me was hilarious. I am a pale ghost by nature and I believe in protecting my skin from the sun at all costs; I’m that pale girl who wears sunscreen daily, invests in hats and tries to stay out of the sun during peak hours. Guilty.
This coming Tuesday, May 16th, I am lucky enough to be invited to celebrate Scarlet’s newest industry night. Starting this week it will be hosted every Tuesday and is surely not to be missed.
Last weekend I had the pleasure of trying out Biscuits and Confetti. For anyone who hasn’t visited yet, Biscuits and Confetti is a kid-friendly cafe/creative space located on Sherbrooke Street in NDG. Anyone who knows me knows that I am more likely to end up somewhere adult-only than kid-friendly, so I was a bit skeptical when trying this place.
I know that I’ve already talked about one of my favourite go to cheese places, Mlt Down, in a previous post – but I had to give them some more attention. They’ve recently started serving burgers and I promise you, they are not to be missed!
I’m not the biggest burger enthusiast, so I really wasn’t expecting to be that impressed. I rarely order burgers when out at restaurants and it’s even rarer that I actually enjoy them. When I received the invite to test their burgers, I was somewhat excited because I know that these guys only produce quality items but I was still a bit skeptical as to whether or not I’d really enjoy it.
To say that I like cheese would be like saying that Carrie Bradshaw likes shoes. It’s an understatement and doesn’t quite explain the relationship.
Thankfully, MLT Down is the type of restaurant that understands the love of cheese. The restaurant is made up of various heavenly versions of the basic grilled cheese. When I visited last week, I sat with one of the owners, Aly Moloo (all locations are co-owned by himself and his brother Rahim) and he told me about their experience in the food industry and how MLT Down had originally started in Kingston Ontario. It was apparent that the pair are not only passionate about the food industry, but that they are responsible for all the unique dishes offered and that customer satisfaction is extremely important to them. After going over the menu and not knowing which of the dishes to try, Aly suggested that I get a real taste for what they offer and ordered me three of the most popular items on the menu.
