Leave Your Mark

I am ALL about female empowerment. I love women who support other women, who raise each other up and who are motivated by the success of other women around them. There’s enough success in the world for all of us and the women who realize that are the ones I want to be around.

Reading Leave Your Mark, written by former twitter star DKNY PR Girl Aliza Licht, spoke to me on so many levels. Not only is this woman extremely accomplished, she worked for various magazines before spending over a decade at DKNY and was primarily responsible for the concept and the success of the anonymous twitter account DKNY PR Girl, but she speaks to you on such a real level. She talks about her failures just as candidly as she does her accomplishments. She gives advice based on real world experiences from her own past and from the exercise of those around her.

Her book is honest and relevant. Because her success happened to her at a fairly young age, she left DKNY in her early thirties to start her own company, she has advice and tips that are relevant for the younger generation that are looking to create their own success. Licht writes with a “no bull shit” attitude without coming off as harsh or arrogant. It is a MUST read for anyone who has a dream and is ready to start working towards it. Every time you close the book, all you want to do is sit down and start working on your business plan and start your career. It is the perfect push for the person who is ready to start there career yet afraid of the timing. This book pushed me to make one of the best decisions I have made for myself in a long time (more coming on that soon!).

I definitely suggest it!

  1. This is a Devil Wears Prada non-fiction, but better, as the person is real, and her experiences are real, and her advice is real. The book has so many positive and practical tips on how to behave, what not to do, how to perfect your resume, how to increase your chances of getting the dream job.
